After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.

To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.

Let me start off by saying I adored Serpent & Dove! It was a surprise favourite of mine and I could not wait to get my hands on this sequel. I had the absolute privilege of sitting in on a Q&A session with the lovely Shelby Mahurin hosted by the folks over at Harper Collins. Shelby was so much fun to listen to and I loved hearing about her experience writing this book. She also dropped some hints about book number three, and from what she said I am sure we are in for a fantastic finale.

This book picked up right where we left off in book 1. I thought the banter we had all come to love between Lou and Reid had a slight edge to it in this book, you could really feel the tension and stress all the characters were under. I loved the evolution of the story and the introduction of more characters and werewolves! We also got more time with the side characters from book 1, which allowed them to gain more dimension and really come to life.

The world building and story telling was just as wonderful as book 1, and I for one am always a sucker for witches and magic. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star read for me, is that it suffered a little from the sequel slump in the middle. I found that the story started to lag a little and I was just waiting for things to move along again. Luckily that didn’t last long and we were back in the action very quickly. Also may I say, Shelby, how dare you leave us with that cliff hanger?! Are you telling me I have to wait a whole year after that ending???? I don’t think I can!

Have you read this wonderful sequel to Serpent & Dove yet? let me know your thoughts down in the comments! Also I am looking for more witchy recommendations, please let me know your favourites, I want to be ready for the spooky season!
