The Wanderlust Book Tag

Happy Wednesday bookworms! It’s been a while since I did a book tag (or at least a non-Christmas related book tag) and when I saw this one over at the Orang-utan Librarian I knew I had to give it a go. Please go check out that post as well, you won’t regret it! It is dark and cold outside and this is usually the time of year when I get that travel itch. Since I definitely do not have the time or the money to fund my travel dreams, this tag will have to tide me over for now.

Secrets and lies: a book set in a sleepy small town

Rebel Belle, this book definitely gives me small town vibes with it’s southern elements and everyone knows everyone plot points. I haven’t read this one in ages but I really loved it and it would definitely be worth picking up again.

Salt and sand: a book with a beach-side community

I’m going to go with To Kill A Kingdom. I know it doesn’t technically take place on a beach but it’s about mermaids for crying out loud, that’s got to count!

Here there be dragons: a book with a voyage on the high seas

I’m also going to go with Life of Pi for this one. I loved this book and honestly most of it takes place on a boat so it really is the perfect fit. This is one of those books that just stayed with me long after I had finished it.

Tread lightly: a book set down a murky river or a jungle

I’m going to say Jurassic Park for this one. Wow my genres are really all over the place here aren’t they?! Well there is a specific scene in this book when they are actually floating down a jungle river so it was honestly the only book that came to mind.

Frozen wastes: a book with a frost bitten atmosphere

Alright I have to go with Narnia for this one. Honestly I tried to think of another one, but Narnia kept creeping back into my brain so I guess it just really wanted to be chosen. Though now as I am writing I think the Golden Compass could also work…

The boonies: a book with ruff or isolated terrain 

I am at such a loss for this one, which is crazy because I am sure I have read books set in an isolated terrain… I’ll go with For A Muse of Fire, they’re on the run for most of the book and they stick to small towns so I think that’s as close as I’m gonna get.

Hinterlands and cowboys: a book with a western-esque setting

Blood Red Road. I honestly don’t like this book that much but it was the only western/cowboy book I could think of lol. It’s also not really a western since it is a dystopia, but it definitely has the same sort of feel.

Look lively: a book set across sweeping desert sands

An Ember in the Ashes. This book and honestly the whole series, is amazing! I cannot recommend this book enough. Yes you have to like high fantasy and multiple POVs, but if you do, I’m telling you this book is awesome.

Wild and untamed: a book set the heart of the woods

The Raven Boys. Ok bear with me, I know you’re probably thinking that this book takes place in a town, not the woods. However, the whole thing is basically about a magical forest and they go there all the time so I think it should count!

Wildest dreams: a whimsical book shrouded in magic

The Hazel Wood. This is such a spooky and magical modern fairytale, and though I’m not sure I would describe it as whimsical but it sure is shrouded in magic.
