Villains To Root For

Happy Wednesday bookworms, tomorrow is Halloween, and in the spirit of the spooky season, I thought I would go through some of my all time favourite villains! I have already done a similar post, but it was a couple of years ago so I thought it was high time I revisit our favourite bad guys. I will ink to my past posts below, and I promise to try my very best to not be repetitive ( there are a lot of awesome villains to choose from), and I will attempt to stay inside the literary sphere (even though I know my feature image is of disnehy villains), so sorry to all the amazing movie villains out there, next time I will get to you.

Villains We Love To Hate | Villains Who Stole The Show

1. Nova Artino

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

I love a good anti-hero, and Nova is one of the best! I love superhero stories and Renegades not only delivered on that in a spectacular way, it also gave us an incredible cast of villains that you just had to root for. I am so excited for the final book to come out next month, I can only hope we get more villainy goodness from Nova.

2. Cardan Greenbriar

Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I honestly don’t know if I hate or love Cardan. He is such an interesting and dynamic character, and it really is impossible to root against him. I can only guess at what the final book will bring, this series has been unpredictable and exciting at every stage!

3. Rielle Dardenne

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Rielle was one of those characters that starts out sympathetic, you think she might be the hero of her story, but then you are quickly proven wrong and everything implodes. I am still rooting for her, I have a soft spot for misunderstood characters, and I think that despite how annoying she was in the second book, she has potential for one hell of a redemption arc.

4. Spike

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Ahhh ok sorry I snuck one TV show character in there. In my defence there are technically Buffy comic books so I think I can count Spike as a literary character. I will admit something that might make half of you really mad at me lol, I like Spike way more than Angel. I thought Spike was such an interesting character, and definitely more of a likeable villain than Angel ever was.

5. Draco Malfoy

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Come on, did you think I would make this list without at least one Harry Potter character, who do you think I am?! I don’t remember if I put Draco on any of my other lists, but honestly I don’t care, I will root for my boy Draco till the end. I would honestly love a spin off from his point of view, what else happened in 6th year? tell us more Draco!

Let me know your favourite villains in the comments, I love to hear from all of you so please chat with me!
