Villains Who Stole the Show

Happy October bookworms! In honour of the month of Halloween I thought I would do a post about some of the best villains I have read about. I wanted to focus on the worst of the worst, the really nasty villains. I realize I could do a whole other post about lovable villains, those character we know we are supposed to hate but we love them anyways but for now I will focus on the true bad guys. These villains were not only evil, but they outshone the hero of their stories!

Also, I am hoping to get your thoughts on an idea I have been thinking of. I thought it would be fun to do a Halloweeny series of posts, where I recommend books that centre around different spooky creatures (i.e. zombie books, ghost books, etc.) If that’s something you guys would b interested in let me know in the comments!

1. Dracula, Dracula

The ultimate vampire in my opinion, Dracula scared me so much as a child, and to this day I have to read the book during the day time!

2. Dolores Umbridge, Harry Potter

In my opinion she is far worse than Voldemort because she hides behind the guise of being a good person. Umbridge definitely stole the show in the fifth harry potter book for sure.

3. The Commandant, An Ember in the Ashes

I realize that the Commandant isn’t the main villain of the story but she certainly is the most villainous. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of good left in her at this point (considering how little she cares about her only child).

4. Professor Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes

So when I saw Moriarty I am thinking of the one from the BBC show Sherlock (though I am sure the one in the books is just as conniving). But Moriarty from that show was such a perfect villain, and her stole the show any time her was on screen.

5. W.I.C.K.E.D. The Maze Runner

I realize this is a company not a person, but they were just such an interesting villain that I had to include them. The fact that this company was willing to torture and lobotomize young children just to cure a plague that they were responsible for in the first place was just plain evil.

What about you guys? who are some of your favourite villains? let me know in the comments!

  1. I hated Umbridge more that Voldemort to!. At least he didn’t hide how evil he was under some veneer. She was pure evil through and through.
