September Wrap Up-2018

Holy smokes can anyone else believe how fast September just flew by? I cannot believe I am already a month into my last year of undergraduate studies, it’s crazy! September has been a crazy month for me, with classes starting and immediately burring me in work. I haven’t had as much time to read as I would have liked, but I did manage to get through a considerable chunk of my TBR so in that I am happy.

Books Reviewed:

The Traitor’s Game by Jennifer A. Nielsen, 2.5/5 Stars

This book ended up being pretty disappointing for me. it felt like a replica of several YA books I had read before, and not a very good replica at that. It was lacking originality and intrigue, and because of that it failed to captivate me.

S.T.A.G.S. by M.A. Bennett, 3.5/5 Stars

This book was a bit of a surprise for me. I am not usually a thriller person but I found myself enjoying this story. The twist at the end was fun, and overall it was a good introduction into the genre.

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee, 4/5 Stars

I was so excited to get an ARC of this book from Harper Collins, because I loved The Gentleman’s Guide and this book looked just as fun! It did not disappoint, it was fun and thrilling, and continues to have excellent LGBTQ+ representation. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh, 3.5/5 Stars

This was also an enjoyable read. My only major issue with this book was that the world building and complex backdrop detracted from the flow of the story. I found myself getting a bit bogged down by the background writing.

This Savage Song, by Victoria Schwab, 4/5 Stars

I really liked this book! It was very unique and interesting, which I’ll be honest is rare in YA (usually the stories always remind me of at least one other book I have read). The review for this one will be going up tomorrow so stay tuned!

  1. Thanks for the shoutout! 😊 September seemed to be a mediocre reading month for you… hopefully October will redeem it! I haven’t read Ace of Shades, but I heard some great things about it. Lovely post! ❤️

  2. You had a far better reading month than me! *hides under cover* I really, really want to read Not Even Bones in October. I at least want to finish my current reads, Ruin and Rising, and A Conjuring of Light. Oh yea, by the way you’re awesome. 😘😘
