Fairyloot Unboxing

Hey guys, I recently purchased my very first monthly box subscription, and being a huge fan of YA fantasy, Fairyloot seemed like a great choice. I just received the first box and I wanted to share with you all the amazing and magical things I received, honestly it was like an early Christmas!

I will start with the extra stuff and end with the most exciting ones (aka the books).

The theme of this box was Ladies That Slay which was already so cool, I didn’t know what to expect. I was blown away, which I know sounds like some sort of poorly worded commercial, but I was honestly so impressed. There was:

  • An amazing Brightest Witch candle from Flick The Wick, for Hermione Granger (definitely an iconic lady)
  • An exclusive Blue’s Brew tea from Bookish teas inspired by Blue Sargent from The Raven Cycle (It was delicious)
  • A really cool protective book sleeve from Aunjuli Art, that is water proof *gasp* I know I was probably more excited than I should have been!
  • A Fire is Catching iron on badge for Katniss Everdeen from Literary Emporium
  • A sticker from Reverie & Ink with a quote from one of my favourite books, An Ember in the Ashes
  • A signed bookplate and letter from Kristen Ciccarelli the author of The Last Namsara

And now on to the most exciting part of the box, (at least it was for me) the books! This box had two books which was extra exciting.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

In the beginning, there was the Namsara: the child of sky and spirit, who carried love and laughter wherever he went. But where there is light, there must be darkness—and so there was also the Iskari. The child of blood and moonlight. The destroyer. The death-bringer.

These are the legends that Asha, daughter of the king of Firgaard, has grown up learning in hushed whispers, drawn to the forbidden figures of the past. But it isn’t until she becomes the fiercest, most feared dragon slayer in the land that she takes on the role of the next Iskari—a lonely destiny that leaves her feeling more like a weapon than a girl.

Asha conquers each dragon and brings its head to the king, but no kill can free her from the shackles that await at home: her betrothal to the cruel commandant, a man who holds the truth about her nature in his palm. When she’s offered the chance to gain her freedom in exchange for the life of the most powerful dragon in Firgaard, she finds that there may be more truth to the ancient stories than she ever could have expected. With the help of a secret friend—a slave boy from her betrothed’s household—Asha must shed the layers of her Iskari bondage and open her heart to love, light, and a truth that has been kept from her.

This copy had special silver foiling exclusive for fairy loot, and the cover was gorgeous. I have to admit I finished this book in a day, it was that good! A review is soon to come so stay tuned.

FuryBorn by Claire Legrand

When assassins ambush her best friend, the crown prince, Rielle Dardenne risks everything to save him, exposing her ability to perform all seven kinds of elemental magic. The only people who should possess this extraordinary power are a pair of prophesied queens: a queen of light and salvation and a queen of blood and destruction. To prove she is the Sun Queen, Rielle must endure seven trials to test her magic. If she fails, she will be executed…unless the trials kill her first.

A thousand years later, the legend of Queen Rielle is a mere fairy tale to bounty hunter Eliana Ferracora. When the Undying Empire conquered her kingdom, she embraced violence to keep her family alive. Now, she believes herself untouchable–until her mother vanishes without a trace, along with countless other women in their city. To find her, Eliana joins a rebel captain on a dangerous mission and discovers that the evil at the heart of the empire is more terrible than she ever imagined.

As Rielle and Eliana fight in a cosmic war that spans millennia, their stories intersect, and the shocking connections between them ultimately determine the fate of their world–and of each other.

This one is super exciting because the book isn’t slated for release until May 2018, and I am so excited to read this ARC especially since it seems to have some seriously kickass heroines.

  1. Very nice! I’ve always wanted to try a book subscription box, but I’m trying to clear out clutter so I couldn’t justify keeping any of the extras. 😦 I’m glad you loved what you got though!

  2. Wow, what a cool box! What’s the price point on it? It would be neat if you included a link to their sign up page, if people are interested. 🙂
I used to do a LOT of boxes, but sadly I have two toddler/preschool age kids in daycare yet so that’s where all my money goes, haha. I really enjoyed LitCube (while I was still able to afford it).
